Audio Producers

Job Code: KM-004

Title: Audio Producer

Location: Aba, Abia State, Nigeria (Hybrid: On-site + Remote Eligible)

About the Organization

An educational media organization is assembling its founding team to build a new knowledge-sharing platform dedicated to preserving thoughtful conversations, educational programming and community engagement.

The organization believes that thoughtful ideas deserve thoughtful presentation. Every recording should be technically excellent while remaining authentic, conversational and accessible.

This is an opportunity to help shape the sound of a new educational media institution from its earliest days.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a creative, technically capable and detail-oriented Audio Producer to oversee the recording, editing, mastering and preparation of our growing catalogue of educational programmes.

This position is about much more than editing audio.

It is about preserving the natural rhythm of thoughtful conversation.

The successful candidate will understand that silence can be as important as speech, authenticity more valuable than perfection, and clarity more important than unnecessary production effects.

If you enjoy helping great conversations sound as good as they deserve, this role may be an excellent fit.

What You Will Do

As Audio Producer, you will:

  • Record and edit programme episodes.
  • Master recordings for consistent broadcast quality.
  • Prepare programmes for streaming and archival preservation.
  • Collaborate with Programme Editors throughout the production process.
  • Maintain production standards across all flagship programmes.
  • Organize production assets for transfer to the Knowledge & Archive Curator.
  • Assist contributors with remote recording where appropriate.
  • Recommend improvements to recording workflows and production systems.
  • Help develop the organization's long-term production capabilities.

What Success Looks Like

Success is measured by listening experience.

Successful Audio Producers consistently create recordings that are:

  • clear and easy to understand;
  • technically consistent;
  • natural in presentation;
  • faithful to the contributor's voice;
  • ready for long-term archival preservation;
  • enjoyable to hear repeatedly over many years.

Listeners should notice the conversation...

not the production.

Who Will Thrive In This Role

You may be an excellent fit if you:

  • enjoy solving technical problems;
  • appreciate careful craftsmanship;
  • notice small details;
  • enjoy improving systems and workflows;
  • are patient during editing;
  • value authenticity over unnecessary effects;
  • communicate well with contributors;
  • enjoy working behind the scenes to help others succeed.

Previous radio experience is welcome.

Podcast, music production, broadcasting, video production or other audio experience is equally valuable.

Above all, we value thoughtful judgment.

Desired Qualifications

Applicants may come from backgrounds including:

  • audio engineering;
  • broadcasting;
  • podcast production;
  • multimedia production;
  • music production;
  • communications;
  • journalism;
  • digital media;
  • film production.

Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

Working Style

This role combines focused independent work with close collaboration across the editorial and production teams.

Applicants should enjoy refining details while working toward larger organizational goals.

Remote collaboration forms an important part of this position, with periodic on-site work in Aba as required.

Why This Role Matters

Thoughtful conversations deserve thoughtful presentation.

Every programme produced by the organization becomes part of its permanent archive.

The Audio Producer helps ensure that future listeners experience those conversations with the same clarity, warmth and authenticity intended by the original contributors.
