Knowledge & Archive Curator

Job Code: KM-002B

Title: Knowledge & Archive Curator

Location: Aba, Abia State, Nigeria (Hybrid: On-site + Remote Eligible)

About the Organization

An educational media organization is assembling its founding team to build a new knowledge-sharing platform dedicated to preserving thoughtful conversations, educational programming and community engagement.

The organization believes that recorded knowledge becomes valuable only when it can be organized, discovered and reused by future generations.

This is an opportunity to help build the institutional memory of a growing educational media organization from its earliest days.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a thoughtful, highly organized and intellectually disciplined individual to serve as our inaugural Knowledge & Archive Curator.

This position goes far beyond storing files.

It exists to transform recordings into institutional knowledge.

Every programme produced by the organization becomes part of a permanent archive.

Your responsibility is to ensure that every conversation can be found, understood, connected and reused long after it was originally recorded.

If you enjoy bringing order to complexity, recognizing patterns and building systems that help others learn, you may find this role exceptionally rewarding.

What You Will Do

As Knowledge & Archive Curator, you will:

  • Develop and maintain the organization's archival indexing system.
  • Design and manage metadata standards.
  • Catalogue programme recordings and supporting materials.
  • Maintain transcripts, keywords and searchable programme descriptions.
  • Develop relationships between programmes, contributors and subject areas.
  • Ensure long-term preservation of editorial assets.
  • Work closely with Programme Editors to organize institutional knowledge.
  • Support future retrieval for publications, educational programmes and research.
  • Recommend improvements to archive organization as the institution grows.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role is measured by discoverability.

Successful Knowledge & Archive Curators build archives that are:

  • easy to search;
  • logically organized;
  • consistently indexed;
  • resilient over time;
  • useful to editors, producers and contributors;
  • increasingly valuable as the collection grows.

The archive should become more useful every year.

Not merely larger.

Who Will Thrive In This Role

You may be an excellent fit if you:

  • naturally organize information;
  • enjoy creating order from complexity;
  • appreciate careful documentation;
  • think systematically;
  • notice patterns that others overlook;
  • enjoy classification and taxonomy;
  • are patient, methodical and dependable;
  • believe that preserving knowledge is as important as creating it.

You do not need previous broadcasting experience.

You do need genuine respect for careful organization and institutional memory.

Desired Qualifications

Applicants may come from backgrounds such as:

  • library and information science;
  • records management;
  • archives;
  • publishing;
  • education;
  • information technology;
  • knowledge management;
  • communications;
  • research administration;
  • digital humanities.

Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

Working Style

This position combines independent work with close collaboration across the editorial and production teams.

Applicants should enjoy improving systems, documenting processes and helping colleagues retrieve information efficiently.

Remote work is supported, with periodic coordination in Aba as required.

Why This Role Matters

Every institution accumulates knowledge.

Few preserve it well.

The Alumni Radio Network is being built upon the belief that thoughtful conversations should continue creating value for generations.

That cannot happen unless someone deliberately organizes, preserves and curates those conversations.

As Knowledge & Archive Curator, you become the steward of the organization's institutional memory.

The systems you build today may continue serving future contributors many years from now.
